“I think it’s under-reported, if anything,” Dr. Master said. “We can’t give data to patients. It’s very difficult to give them hard figures as to the percentage risk of vascular occlusion or blindness in this country.”

Published Case Report: MRI and Ultrasound-Guided Management of Intraocular Filler Complications

This peer-reviewed case report presents a novel, image-guided approach to managing inadvertent intraocular hyaluronic acid filler injections.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was utilized to confirm the presence of hyaluronic acid filler within the globe. Treatment was performed using a combination of MRI “road mapping” and ultrasound-guided administration of hyaluronidase, conducted by a dual-trained aesthetic physician and radiologist.
